Primary Song Leaders

One of my favorite callings has always been Primary Song Leader, because I love children, and I love the beautiful songs in the Primary Songbook. I’ve learned through the years that although it’s important to help the children have fun, it’s even more important to help them feel the Lord’s Spirit. Through heartfelt prayer, you can be guided and directed to know the very ideas, methods, and words to use to touch the children’s hearts. I still remember where I was sitting, the method that was used, the sound of her voice, and the feelings I felt on that day so long ago, when theĀ  Primary song Leader in my ward taught us the song, “My Heavenly Father Loves Me.” I’ll never forget it. You can have such a powerful impact for good upon the children to whom you teach these inspired primary songs.

I dearly love little children. I love to smile at them and make friends with them. I love teaching them; especially the primary songs about Jesus Christ and His gospel. Little Ones are so close to the Spirit and so impressionable. Sometimes I think that we can almost learn more from them, than we can teach them.

Little kids have a sparkle in their eyes. They possess simple, child-like faith, which is the kind of faith we, as adults need to learn to exercise; in essence, putting our complete trust in the Lord every day of our lives.
I love to hear the primary children singing, “A Child’s Prayer”. It does something to me each time I hear it.
