ONE MONTH AWAY! YEA!

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

I’m excited! Our son, Jacob, who has been serving on a mission in Hong Kong, will be returning home in just one month. Although I’ve missed him so much, I have been very grateful for this growth experience for him. He spoke Cantonese for the majority of his mission, but for the past few months, has spoken English, while serving in the International Branch; which he has enjoyed immensely.  He says the people are humble and anxious to hear and learn about the gospel of Jesus Christ.  Jacob is a walking miracle, because prior to his mission call, he was struck with cancer. The Lord healed him and allowed him to serve this mission. Listen to my arrangement of  “I’ll Go Where You Want Me To Go” in my Free Hymn Arrangements Album.

PROPHET OF GOD

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

Thomas S. Monson is a true Prophet of God. Of this, I bear my witness. Read his “Closing Remarks” in the October General Conference; as found in the 2009 November Ensign issue. (Easily accessible on  lds.org. ) Our only safety in this wicked world is to follow his words.  I hope to write a song about him and before this year is out, put it up on my website, along with my other songs for children in an album entitled, “The Beloved Prophets”. See and hear my other children’s songs; especially this one, which is performed by my daughter, Laura Sue, who has such a refreshing,  lovely voice.

LIVING ORACLES

Sunday, February 7th, 2010

In our stake conference a couple of weeks ago I was inspired by a talk given by one of the counselors in our Stake Presidency. He quoted Brigham Young on the importance of following the “Living Oracles” of God and that even though the Book of Mormon and other scriptures, (Also see our Free Scripture Mastery Widget.), are very important to our salvation, following the words of the living prophets is even more important to our salvation, because their words pertain to the very things we need in our day. Since then, I have been not only reading in the Book of Mormon each morning, but also reading and studying each day, a different talk from the most recent conference talks, given last October. It has truly blessed my life. I’ve felt closer to the Lord, felt the Holy Ghost’s guidance more readily, felt my faith and hope increase, and noticed that I am happier and more optomistic. I have a testimony that these things are true. I know that President Thomas S. Monson is a true Prophet of God and that he receives revelation from the Lord to guide the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in these latter days! I believe everything in our lives will go better, as we follow the living Prophet and the other General Authorities. Visit lds.org ~ to read or listen to the conference talks. They are inspirational!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Thursday, December 24th, 2009

Today is Christmas Eve. I send loving wishes to everyone all around the world and say, “I know that our Lord and Redeemer, Jesus Christ, is the Savior of the world!  What a miraculous thing it is to have the blessing of sharing my music and knowing how far it is reaching. Our wonderful son, Jacob, is serving a mission in Hong Kong and only has 4 short months left, before returning home.  It will be so good to have him home again, and it will be exciting to have him sing and record more of my songs, because he has such a great voice.  He recorded Living Waters, (Vol. One, So Will I Comfort You), when he was just 16. When I am missing him, I listen to this recording, and it brings me comfort.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Friday, November 13th, 2009

How grateful we should be, every day of our lives, for all of the tender mercies and blessings our kind Heavenly Father sends down to us. Feeling overwhelmed with gratitude, I wrote a new song the other day, entitled: “Thanks Giving“. It’s my FREE GIFT to you. Also, if you’ve always loved the little primary song, “I Have A Little Gospel Light“, and haven’t been able to find it anywhere, here is another FREE GIFT for you: a delightful, new arrangement to teach your little children.

A Little Feedback

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

It was exciting to hear about the recent  performance of a Women’s Choir singing, “Please Bless The Children”, down on Temple Square in the Assembly Hall for a Stake Conference.  Here is what the sweet sister, who accompanied the choir, wrote:

“The performance was marvelous—our sisters sounded truly angelic. Their music soared through the Assembly Hall, with the violin echoing beautifully. President thus so very poignantly emphasized our plea to “Please bless the children, please keep them safe from sin and darkness that lies before them”. I know that this was the most important message given that day. Oh, if parents and teachers only remember and give kind, loving attention to each child and teenager as they face so much in the world today.  Many heartfelt thanks to you, and may our Father’s blessings continue to attend you as you express testimony through music.” (I might interject here, that I’m grateful for this sister’s kind words and also that the piece this choir sang is not actually a choir arrangement. It’s found in the Children’s and Primary Album and in the Free Music Album.)

MY TESTIMONY

Sunday, August 16th, 2009

I want everyone to know that I have a firm testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ! I know our Heavenly Father lives and that He is a kind, gentle, merciful God, who cares about every single one of us. I know that He is a God of miracles, and that there is nothing in our lives too insignificant to pray to Him about, because each and every one of us is His child. I also know that our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ is the literal Son of God and that He lives and loves us!  He suffered not only for all of our sins, if we will repent, but He already bore all of our burdens, sorrows, weaknesses, and disappointments. Through His Atonement and our repentance and humility, our burdens can be made lighter, we can know and feel true joy and peace, even in this wicked world; and after this life, through enduring to the end, we can return back to the presence of our Father in Heaven.

1childofGod says:  Hi, I read the comments on the Hymn Be Still My Soul, and that too is the song I turn to for comfort and peace. Where Can I Turn for Peace is another one that Helps me through depression or despair! And the song More Holiness Give Me is the hymn that helps me be more prayerful. I would love to hear arrangements on these songs…. It is a beautiful website and the music is very inspiring. (A new arrangement of More Holiness Give Me has been added, since this comment)

Richard says:  Sharon . . . so good to “discover” your website. My latest favorite hymn is CALLED TO SERVE. I can imagine a group of missionaries singing this song, accompanied by a small group of “Tubas” to add emphasis. I still get choked up thinking of this song as we were putting “our missionary” in the MTC…Thanks for asking. . .
